Hello, my name is Tony Munguia and I’m proud to say I started Lightning Electric in 2007.
To get to this point, let’s go back to where it started at age 15. Working for a local electrical company in Novato, starting in the yard and shop as a “Shop Boy” I was able to begin my electrical learning career. At 18, I was able to join the UNION, so I joined the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) Union Local # 551. I worked for 8 years as an electrical apprentice(5 years in the electrical, 3 years in Sound and Communication systems) I finally graduated and became a Journeyman Electrician/Certified TELCOM Tech Installer. Working for the union during those years, I gained many opportunities to work in high scale electrical and communication infrastructure projects. To name a few; GE Financial assurance, Bio Marin, Lucas Arts, THX, Health Net, SSU, local school projects, water treatment plant retrofits, water tank retrofits, Traffic signal installations, CAL trans work, etc. Busy times...
Then the economy changed in about 2007-2009. I decided to change with it. Having not only worked on all the large scaled projects listed above, and more, I always was needed by friends and family for help in the evenings and weekends for their electrical project needs, during those years, I was able to start a small personal client base. This base allowed me to establish a reputation for speedy and creative solutions at a fair price. I was eventually able to obtain a C-10 Electrical Contractors License, and start “Lightning Electric” . Eventually, I decided to convert the business into a “UNION SHOP” and joined the union as a contractor and then was able to hire my fellow union members and give back to the UNION team!
